Skoda Rapid Launched, priced at Rs 6.75 Lacs
Car manufacturer Skoda Auto on Wednesday launched its first c-segment sedan Rapid priced at Rs.6.75 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi).
"We intend to strengthen our presence in the highly competitive C segment in the country with this launch," said Thomas Kuehl, board member and director, sales and marketing, SKODA Auto India.
According to Kuehl, the company expected the car to become a key brand to drive sales.
"Our plans for the Rapid in India are fairly ambitious, given that we expect it to become the bestselling car in our model line-up in India, in the near future," Kuehl said.
Kuehl said the car completes the company's current portfolio. "It fills the gap between Skoda Fabia and the current Laura," Kuehl said.
The car will be produced at the company's Chakan plant in Pune.
"The Rapid is positioned as a family car, compact enough for the city and spacious enough for longer trips," Kuelh said.

This "kitna deti hai" attitude and culture has brought the true value/cost of international products in front of the world.
Take this case or any consumer items. When they were smuggled, we paid any thing they asked for but the moment they started manufacturing in india then ...........
I recently spent a day with the new Skoda Rapid on the expressways, dual carriageways and narrow streets of jaipur. Before the drive, I had expected the car to be very similar to VW Vento. And similar not just in the looks department. But there are quite a few areas where the car has taken a detour from the Vento’s route and hence used a different approach
